This heavy duty pair of ornate fire dogs for fireplaces gives you a strong and traditional way to support logs in an open fireplace. Designed to combine practical performance with visual impact, they suit both classic hearths and more modern interiors. The solid steel construction gives a reassuring weight, helping logs stay in place during use while framing the fire with a bold, decorative presence. Positioned at the front of the hearth, they add structure to the fire and help create a balanced, well presented flamescape.
Each firedog is made from thick 5mm steel, giving excellent resistance to heat and long term use. This thickness helps prevent warping, even with repeated fires, and makes the pair suitable for regular use throughout the colder months. The black heat resistant powder coated finish protects the steel from surface wear caused by ash and heat, while also giving a clean, dark appearance that looks smart even when the fire is not lit. The coating helps reduce visible marks and makes general upkeep easier.
The raised support bar on these fireplace fire dogs play an important role in how the fire burns. Sitting 100mm above the hearth, it lifts the logs slightly to allow air to flow underneath. This improved airflow helps fires light more easily, burn more evenly and produce stronger flames with less smoke. Ash can also fall away more freely, helping the fire stay hotter and reducing the need for constant adjustment during use.
